Naturally, the best recreation in Cowichan Bay is boating.
But,
crabbing is awsome. Everyone has a best place and way to crab, but as one who
crabs regularly I offer the following advice:
- The best time to crab seems to
be around the high and low tides. Set an hour before pull an hour after and most
times you will have your set limit.
- Most any bait works, but they prefer
chicken
- If crabbing the south shore set in 60-70 feet of water (there
is a shallow shelf following the shore)
- If crabbing on north shore hug
Tseuhalem Mountain.
- Watch your traps. Traps left too long often disappear.
